About Support PAPA (Parents Against Predators Act)
Support PAPA (a.k.a. Parents Against Predators Act) supports proposed U.S. federal legislation by the same name. Additionally, its mission is to launch an international grassroots Internet safety education and outreach movement to educate adults and youth on the ever-changing strategies for safe and responsible Internet use - in particular, how to be safe while social networking. Child victimization on the Internet is exploding, primarily because youth are putting themselves at risk of victimization by child predators; and youth are victimizing their peers in the form of Cyber Bullying, often without considering the life long damage inflicted upon the victims. These crimes are preventable with Internet safety education, implementation, and community outreach. Support PAPA aims to reach 1 million youth and adults towards this effort. As for the online sexual exploitation of children, Child Pornography has become a 12 billion dollar industry. Industry estimates child pornography websites are in excess of 200,000. Support PAPA aims to help shut down 10,000 child pornography websites. Getting involved in the Support PAPA movement provides an individual the opportunity to make a difference in this world by potentially saving a child's life by bringing awareness and education to their community by organizing individualized events under the direction and training of the Support PAPA staff, providing financial support, or "in kind" donations of their time or talent. Support PAPA needs everyone's help to keep the Internet safe for our children and to keep our children safe from their own dangerous behavior.
Internet safety is everyone's issue. Protection of youth is vital to our future on many levels. Besides the personal and monetary costs to the victim and his or her family, the actual costs to business and society as a whole are staggering if you look at all that is involved from the moment a crime is committed to the conviction, incarceration and rehabilitation efforts of the perpetrator.
