Simon Lichtenberg was educated in the Danish Tvind Colleges Universities and lived for several years in Africa as a teenager. After achieving Chinese language and Sinology courses at Fudan University, in Shanghai in 1988, Simon Lichtenberg moved back to Denmark to finish his learnings.
He launched himself in a business career in the timber merchandising in Malaysia 19 years ago and got back to China to create his own enterprise in 1993. Trayton Group was founded in Shanghai in 1995 in the timber merchandising between Africa and Asia. Presently, Trayton Group's major occupation is design and making of upholstery furniture internationally and marketing and supplying of furniture and lifestyle commodities in China. Simon Lichtenberg built the company from scratch to what it is currently: a business entity with more than 2,000 workers. One of the group's affiliates, Trayton Furniture, was ranked in the "Shanghai Top 500 Industrials" in 2005. Trayton Group is also the leader licensee for China of the fashionable Danish lifestyle retail chain BoConcept owning 20 distribution stores throughout the nation. Sofapop, the company 's public-marketed lifestyle commodities distribution label was set up in Shanghai in 2008, and now is working in retail and e-commerce in China and globally. The firm established the Danish first-class ornament brand Georg Jensen in China in 2010.
Simon Lichtenberg speaks 7 languages and has lived in 8 countries. He is an entrepreneur with a thorough understanding and a good ability to adapt to different cultures and environments. Simon Lichtenberg is an expert on China and has plenty of hands-on experience after having lived nineteen years in China and carried out continuous studies on China, its development and its economy ecosystem.
Simon Lichtenberg was awarded the prestigious "Magnolia Silver Awards" from the Shanghai Municipal Government in 2006 for his outstanding contribution to Shanghai's development. Simon is also the founding president of the Fudan University International Students Alumni Association and member of the board of the Danish Chamber of Commerce in China.
