PRESS: Confused About Healthcare Reform?
Both sides of the aisle are working hard to confuse you, then scare you into a decision to benefit them.

Everyday I have people asking for my opinion about the healthcare reform bill and I always say, "They are missing the whole point. They are trying to provide everyone with health insurance and still insure the insurance companies their huge profits. This cannot be done." I would everyon to read the article, "5 Myths ABout Healthcare Around the World" by T.R. Reid of the Washington Post. I would also ask you to look up T.R.Reid, so you will understand where he is coming from, so you will understand he has no other agenda except to let you know the truth. As a therapist, I can attest to so much misinformation distributed by medical companies and healthcare practitioners as down right harmful to your body. Everyone wants to write prescriptions for medicines, braces, and any other therapies that require no effort from you, plus it allows them to see many more patients than they can possibly treat in an hour. Have you ever been to therapy and the therapist worked on you along with 1-3 other people? Did you notice that when you see your doctor, they only spent about 7-10 minutes with you? Each person is getting billed the same amount of money. Now think about this, in whatever profession you are in, how accurate could you be if you took care 3 customers at a time? I mean, would you want your banker talking to you and 2 other people at the same time about your loans? Finally, think about this, in your experience, when you sped through a process, how many times did you make a mistake? The same is true in healthcare. The 8th leading cause of death in America is medical errors. Last year over 98,000 people died due to medical mistakes. Is this acceptable to you? IN T.R. Reid's article he talks about how 700,000 Americans had to file for bankruptcy last year for medical expenses. We are not talking about just blowing their money on frivolous items. Yet in countries that we say are inferior to us that rate is 0. Now I am not wanting free healthcare, because in these countries it is free either. They all use private insurance companies, private hopitals, and a full choice of doctors. There are no In-network plans and no pre-existing conditions, yet the companies are still profitable and everyone is covered affordably. I encourage each of you to read T.R. Reid's article to hopefully get a better undertanding of what is actually missing.
