Designer and fashion show producer Andres Aquino will present his latest collection entitled "Red Carpet" as part of the upcoming season of Couture Fashion Week. The runway show is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Saturday September 12, 2009 in the Starlight Roof of the world-famous Waldorf-Astoria, New York City. The fashion show will be followed by the Couture Fashion Week Ball.
Mr. Aquino's Spring collection is divided into two parts and filled with wonderful surprises. The first group of designs is a collection of luxury hand-enhanced swimwear with gorgeous embroidered wraps and accessories. The eveningwear group includes couture gowns done in hand-embroidered fabrics and chiffons embellished with fine French, Japanese and Indian lace. Luxurious accessories will include diamond-encrusted sunglasses by Vavas Eyewear, handcrafted hats by Suzette Couture and jewelry by Bagaceous.
A group of international artists have teamed up with Mr. Aquino to create a night to remember. Make up by Hawaiian-born Hollywood film and TV makeup artist Mahealani Diego and her team along with hair styling directed by Federico Calce of Federico Salon from Manhattan's upper East -- both Couture Fashion Week regulars -- will add the final touches while setting some over-the-top new beauty trends.
Mr. Aquino's shows have become known for fusing elements of performance and artistry, music, dance, fashion and multimedia. The production will be part Broadway, part Paris runway and one hundred percent entertainment while showcasing beautiful couture and luxury garments and accessories.
“I want my shows to be a platform where an army of artists and other creative minds come together to express themselves in conjunction with my designs,” says Andres Aquino.
Several world-class performers are scheduled to appear in Andres Aquino's show. Internationally renowned rock opera singer and recording artist Kimera has brought opera to young and mature audiences alike with her trademark avant-garde makeup, costumes and special effects; Alexander Markov, the violinist extraordinaire whose electrifying combination of classic music and rock-and-roll delights audiences around the world, will perform on his new custom-made gold-plated violin. Other performers scheduled to appear include jazz singer Sarah Charles, pop singer Deborah Taylor, and cellist Gjilberta Gjelaj.
Mr. Aquino recently presented his fashions as a VIP guest designer at the first Dominican Republic Fashion Week where he was part of the closing night of the event before an audience of some 2,800 fashion lovers and press. He has also twice shown as a guest designer at Bucharest Fashion Week in Romania and is scheduled to return to Romania later this year to again appear at that event. His collections have been featured on TV shows and magazines in Europe, Asia, Africa, the USA and North and South America, and he has shown his designs on the Couture Fashion Week runways for the past two years to enthusiastic reviews worldwide.
Mr. Aquino recently partnered with India International Fashion Week and in October 2009 he will travel to that event with a delegation of designers, models and stylists from Couture Fashion Week New York establishing a link between fashion in New Delhi and New York. At the end of October 2009, Mr. Aquino will travel as a special VIP guest to Mexico with a number of Hollywood celebrities and other guests to take part in a gala, tour and press presentation to benefit local children affected by drug violence and serve to promote the beauty of Mexico as a travel destination. The event will include the participation of the former presidents of Mexico and Costa Rica as well as a number of Mexican celebrities.
Mr. Aquino is also the founder and producer of Couture Fashion Week now expanding to other markets. His innovative concept of bringing couture from around the world to New York has taken root as the event continues to grow and receive international press coverage and rave reviews.
