The #1 reason most Americans go to a doctor is for low back pain. We have pain relievers, back braces, strength training exercises, water aerobics, and structure manipulation. Pain Relievers only mask the problem. For many, they take a pill and they feel no pain.So they assume everything is fine. Unfortunately,the pill just shuts off the mechanisms that alert you to an injury putting you in a position to do greater damage. Back braces allow the muscle to atrophy setting you up for a lifetime of injuries and pain. Strength training sounds reasonable, after all if your back is stronger, you should feel better. Wrong! Strenght training a muscle actually shortens the muscles causing even more discomfort. Structure manipulaiton is the closest to helping, but as long as the muscles are tight, the muscles will pull the structure back out of place. So what can you do? Let's begin with the cause. 90% of all low back pain originates in the hips. Bending over to pick up something, climbing a ladder, leaning over a car as you repair it, or anything that makes you bend over and strain your muscles in the hips.Yes the hips. You should stretch your hips with Active Isolated Stretching. Never do traditional stretches as you will hold the stretches too long and create more pain and discomfort.A stretch should never be held more than 2 seconds and repeated 10 times. There are 8 muscles in each side of the hips and you must stretch them all.
