Washington, DC June 26, 2009 – Families gather for fireworks, parades, barbeques, carnivals, picnics, concerts, baseball games, political speeches, and ceremonies celebrating the history, government and traditions of the United States. We must be mindful of the significance of Independence Day, its an annual celebration to commemorate the courage and faith of our founding fathers in their pursuit of liberty.
Paul Lawrence Vann, Independence Day expert is currently being interviewed by radio stations throughout the United States to provide insight on the rich history of the 4th of July. For example, the Declaration of Independence was adopted by the Continental Congress in Philadelphia on July 4, 1776, John Hancock was president of the Congress, and Charles Thomson was Secretary.
Vann states, "America’s birthday is about the sacrifices made by the extraordinary leaders who, at great personal risk, struggled to unite a young nation." Our Declaration of Independence established the U.S. Constitution, endorsing the fundamental principles of freedom we still uphold to this day.
