(Philadelphia, PA) CAConrad’s The Book of Frank is the recipient of the Gil Ott Book Award (Chax Press, 2009). The Gil Ott Award honors the legacy of poet, publisher, and social activist Gil Ott.
Judges for the award include Nathaniel Mackey, who received the National Book Award in 2006 for Splay Anthem (New Directions, 2006). Myung Mi Kim, Eli Goldblatt, and Charles Alexander also judged the poetry contest.
CAConrad published Deviant Propulsion in 2006 with Soft Skull Press, and has a book with the same publisher due to be released in June of 2009 titled, advanced Elvis course. The poems in Deviant Propulsion were compared to Allen Ginsberg by a writer for Publishers Weekly. Eileen Myles said of Deviant Propulsion, “I'm a huge fan of CAConrad's poems... [he] is boldy recruiting all of us to commit the / muscle / to love. Is the opposite of a hate crime a love crime? Well, this is it.”

He performed at the Allen Ginsberg and Frank O'Hara birthday celebrations at St. Marks, and will be performing at the Jack Spicer celebration at St. Marks in May of this year.
