Internationally acclaimed designer Jorge Diep will present hsi latest collection of couture creations in New York City on Saturday February 14, 2009. Part of Couture Fashion Week, the fashion show will be held at the world-famous Waldorf-Astoria and promises to be a memorable event.
A native of the Dominican Republic, Mr. Diep relocated to Mexico City at age 16 to pursue his studies in fashion design. He went on to open his own exclusive boutique in the city's fashionable Zona Rosa district in 1983.
Mr. Diep's artistic spirit then took him to Rome where he spent over 2 years working with well-known designers and learning the finer points of creating spectacular top-of-the-line fashions. He then went on to work with major fashion houses in Spain.
In 1988, Mr. Diep returned to his native country where he created the unforgettable gowns for the Miss Dominican Republic pageant for over 10 years. His creations for the most important pageants including Miss Universe, Miss World and Miss International have garnered national and international recognition and numerous awards. He has also designed gowns for Miss Antigua, Miss Bahamas and Miss Venezuela.
In addition to his glamorous evening wear, Jorge Diep has designed dramatic theatrical costumes for such productions as Kiss of the Spider Woman, Evita, Victor Victoria, Romeo and Juliet, and the popular musical Mexicano Aventurera by Carmen Salinas.
His distinguished clientele includes many top Latin American celebrities such as Charityn Goico, Nancy Alvarez, Amelia Vega, Angela Carrasco, Yolandita Monge and Sabine Moussie. He is also a favorite designer of the First Lady of the Dominican Republic, Dr. Margarita Cedeño de Fernández.
