The low-level laser emitted by the ZERONA device causes the formation of what is called a "transitory pore" in the membrane of a fat cell. Through this pore, fat from the cell is released into the body, where it is safely carried away by the body's own natural cleansing process. Surgical extraction of the fat is not required.
"Because there's no need to break up and suction out the fat cells, as with a traditional liposuction procedure, aftereffects like swelling, bruising, and temporary soreness in the treated areas are eliminated," says Dr. Stevens.
